Graduation Frames for University Parchments or Diplomas
A university degree/diploma or any certificate has been hard earned and should be framed so that it looks great and also preserved for the future. At the Framing Centre we can do that for you. We recommend using Conservation Mount-board with a Conservation Backing Board and UV Glass in a suitable frame. We can help you choose the right frame and mount-board colour for your hard earned parchment or diploma. We don’t use selo tape in any of our frames, we only use acid free tape and conservation tape. We custom make all the graduation frames in our workshop. You can bring in your parchment to us and we will frame it for you or you can buy the graduation frames in our online shop and put the parchment in yourself.
We have been framing objects in box frames for years.
But one of the problems that often occurs is the depth the frame has to be to house the object. It becomes bulky and difficult to hang on the wall.
This new framing concept solves this problem. Instead of having a bulky box at the back, this new idea has persex to the front and curves around the object.
The advantage is that it lies flat on the wall. It really looks fantastic.
You have to see it to really appreciate how great it is!
It is ideal for football boots, boxing gloves, caps etc.
Come in and have a look.
A lot of objects which most of us put away in a drawer or under the bed, oftentimes go missing or get damaged over time and Object Box Framing is a great way to protect, preserve and display your prized objects.
If you have ever got anything framed with us @ the framingcentre.ie you would have been encouraged to have your item framed with a border of mount-board/ matting/passepartout. We would recommend either single, double or even triple mount with varying widths, 4cm, 5cm or 10cm, whatever would be required to show off the image to its full potential.
There are three good reasons for framing your image with a border of mount-board.
Firstly, to keep it away from the glass. If a photo for instance is up against the glass it can stick to it and we have encountered this problem a few times over the years, the photo is stuck and cannot be removed without doing damage to it. A pastel for instance needs at least a double mount to avoid the image transferring onto the glass.
Secondly, a border of mount-board is suggested to enhance the image by giving it space to breathe, 4cm, 5cm , 8,9, 10cm of white, black, red etc or whatever colour is required to do it. This makes the whole framed piece a feature in any room.
Thirdly, the mount-board border is there to protect the image, providing the mount-board is of conservation quality or museum quality. These two types of boards will not cause any brown acid stains (foxing) which a lot of pictures contain because of lesser quality boards, check out the Fine Art Trade Guild for more information on mount-board standards. A framed picture can remain in great condition for years and still look great if framed properly.
At the Framing Centre Thomas Street Limerick we will always encourage our customers to frame their items the best way possible.
